Why?
Recreational angling is one of the biggest participation sports in the world today with an estimated 300m plus anglers. Angling is part of our DNA, with fishing rods known to have been used 2000 years BC and fish being an integral part of the human diet throughout our history. Over the last millennia, angling has evolved from just being a source of food to a sport enjoyed by millions, a chance to immerse ourselves in nature and learn about and care for the environment in which we live. The great English author, Isaac Walton first popularised angling as a recreation in his renowned 1653 work, ‘The Compleat Angler’ and so began centuries of tackle development and refining of angling techniques. Our understanding of fish, their behaviour and the threats they face has been driven by recreational angling and with an ever increasing emphasis from anglers on sustainable fishing, catch and release and conservation of fish habitats, we can hope to be part of the solution to safeguard the future of wild fish species.
Fishing TV provides an incredible resource for those either new to the sport to learn or for more experienced anglers to be inspired to try new locations, new tactics or try for new species. It’s a one stop shop for the best fishing video content produced which will undoubtedly help you become a more knowledgeable and better angler.
