About

The Carp channel brings you a fantastic selection of carp fishing films, TV series and tips from top experts. Whether you are new to carp fishing and looking for some help getting started or a more experienced carp angler, there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck into, learn from and enjoy.
Carp fishing has become the fastest growing part of angling over the past 30 years, particularly in Europe and is gaining popularity in many new countries around the world such as the USA. Various freshwater fish belong to the carp family, Cyprinidae, but commonly anglers target common carp, mirror carp and grass carp. Carp are a somewhat controversial species, adored in some countries where they are native and hated in others where they are considered invasive. Originally a fish for the table in many countries such as the UK, carp are now regarded by anglers primarily as a sport fish and carefully returned. Carp can live for up to 50 years and reach prodigious sizes, yet despite their bulky appearance, they are wary fish, sometimes fussy eaters and can be difficult to catch.
In order to consistently catch carp, anglers often fish with 2 or 3 rods and fish long sessions (24hrs, 48hrs or even longer) on their chosen water as time is needed to pull carp into their baited swims. Its for this reason that carp anglers often have a lot of equipment as they need to camp and feed them themselves over long periods as well as just fish. To succeed, carp anglers need to have a good knowledge of rigs and baits, understand how conditions affect carp behaviour, have excellent watercraft and have a good deal of patience.
