The World According To Chris Yates

Chris Yates, one-time holder of the UK's heaviest carp record and vintage tackle enthusiast, is one of the country's most well-known anglers. His approach to fishing is different to that of many, placing great importance on a closeness with nature.

In this intimate four-part series Ian 'Chilly' Chilcott spends some time chatting with Chris and learns about his life as an angler and hears some of the stories that he has accumulated over the years.

This series is a great chance to hear two extremely experienced fishermen shooting the breeze about a shared passion for carp fishing.
Chris recants the spooky story of the brown teapot, first told in his iconic book ‘Casting At The Sun’, and concludes with stories of Matt Le Tissier, Harry Redknapp and his experiments with rocket science and explosions.
Chris talks about a Redmire Fish he hooked that was even bigger than his British record. Also his views on the close season, antique tackle and the great Donald Leney, the man who first stocked Redmire and arguably made carp fishing what it is today. He also tells Ian how he came to write 'Casting At The Sun' and how it led to 'A Passion For Angling'.
Chris Yates chats to Ian Chillcott about how Dick Walker influenced his fishing, his introduction into the world of photography and his escape back to Redmire.
Ian Chillcott meets up with one of his all time heroes, Chris Yates, who starts by telling him about his early years and how he was introduced to fishing.
