Here we preview the culmination of the 2018-19 Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, the biggest event in the calendar, the 2019 Championship. Held in late May on Pickwick Lake at Florence, Alabama, hundreds of college anglers arrive early for practice sessions and to be "wined and dined" by some of the big names in the Bass fishing industry. Yamaha hold an appreciation evening, with a casting competition and plenty of prizes. Garmin show off their latest technology including the PanOptix Livescope and on "Banquet Night" the competitors fill their goody bags with freebies from a host of other sponsors. Feedback from the practice sessions is mixed, in mid summer the Bass tend to go deep, so the teams are looking for ledges holding shoals of fish. The winners will be the ones that can get the most out of their electronics and make the best choice of baits. As well as the Championship trophy, the 2019 School of the Year award is also up for grabs, so it promises to be two days of intense competition.
