Most anglers around the world will know what an incredible fishing paradise the Florida Keys are and this fantastic film tells the story of conservation and sustainability there over the past 100 years. This unique ecosystem exists where the Gulf of Mexico, Florida Bay and the Atlantic Ocean meets and is home to a vast array of fish and wildlife species. We'll learn how the freshwater from the Everglades, one of the world's largest wetlands, directly impacts the reef systems of the Keys, which is home to over 6000 species of fish. We meet some of the dedicated conservationists who continue to inspire residents and visitors to join the movement of voluntourism and learn about some of the programs that have been developed to protect the Keys. From coral replanting to the creation of artificial reefs by scuttling ships, there are numerous active schemes that are helping to keep the environment healthy. We learn about the history of sportfishing in the Keys and Capt Will Benson explains how angling methods and attitudes have changed in recent years, especially with a much higher emphasis on catch and release. There's also some great fishing sequences as we head out with local guide, Richard Stanzcyk who manages to get a double Sailfish hook up! This is a wonderful film which shows off the Florida Keys in all its glory and highlights what an important environment it is to protect.

More Saltwater action from the Florida Keys, as the Fish Guyz, Captain George Clark Jr. and Captain Lain Goodwin are back for series 2, doing what they do best and that's heading out in a boat for a day's fishing. They're based in Key Largo on Florida's Atlantic coast and they always have the choice of heading out into open water for some deep sea fishing for species such as Sailfish, Mahi Mahi and Tuna, or travelling along the sheltered flats that run up to Biscayne Bay and include the mangrove line shallows of the Everglade National Park. Here they can find plenty of Snook, Snappers, Jacks and Yellowfish as well as Tarpon and Permit. There plenty more banter between the two of them and George seems even more obsessed with filling the cool box with edibles to take back for his favourite fish tacos. Paul's in the Florida Keys and today fishing in the back country where multiple species can be found including Tarpon, Redfish, Snook, Sea Trout and today's target the Bonefish. Richard Stanwick joins Paul along with Capt George Woods and he explains how they'll be catching them today using bait in slightly coloured water to find the fish. They 'stake' the boat up and before long Paul picks up the rod as line starts peeling off the reel with a running fish. Its a nice Bonefish of around 5lb and a great start to the day. They move to another spot and almost immediately another big Bonefish tears off into the distance and Paul enjoys a strong fight. You never know what you'll catch in such rich waters and next up Paul catches a small Stingray before they focus back in on the bones. In the afternoon, they move into shallow water, poling the skiff and looking for tailing bones that they'll then present a bait in front of. They find a good fish and spend several minutes stalking it as it tails around the bait, before Paul makes a perfect cast and hooks into strong fish. Paul caps this brilliant trip by hooking and boating a nice Bull Shark.
