Opening the Tweed follows the start of the 2026 salmon fishing season on the legendary River Tweed, capturing the people, traditions and year-round work behind the UK’s most celebrated salmon river. Beginning at the Tweed Fly Fair, we meet fly tyers from around the world, collectors of vintage tackle and the ghillies whose deep knowledge shapes every cast. As dawn breaks over famous beats like Bemersyde and Hendersyde, fishermen gather for that first hopeful cast of the year. Through conversations with conservationists, managers, educators and anglers — including the man who lands the first fish of the season — the documentary reveals everything that goes into keeping the Tweed strong. From teaching children about fly fishing and river ecology to the vital role of catch-and-release, Opening the Tweed is a portrait of a community bound by water, tradition and the enduring pull of a salmon running home.

This feature length cut of "Night of the Hex" offers a rare glimpse of fishing this rarely filmed event. As June arrives in the American Midwest it ushers in the emergence of the Michigan mayfly, Hexagenia Limbata. This prolific hatch takes place at night and with it brings out the biggest trout to gorge this feast. This is truly a unique fishing experience and can offer an angler both heartbreak and the possibility of a trophy brown trout. Follow four Midwestern fly fisherman through various obstacles as they chase this hatch and hunt these large brown trout under the cover of night.

Join Mozz and Hooch, or Adrian and Kelly as their mothers know them, two larger than life anglers from the Australian island of Tasmania as they take part in the Tasmania Classic Trout Competition, a lure fishing tournament in the famous New Norfolk trout fishery. They meet the local Lord Mayor, then head out onto the water to pit their skills(?) against those of the locals.  

The troublesome twosome are back out early in the morning to witness the shotgun start of the day’s fishing and their motor racing pedigree comes in handy for some off the cuff motorsports commentary before they get back down to the serious business of catching some of Tasmania’s famous trout. These guys really know how to enjoy their fishing, and they make sure to stop and have a friendly chat with their fellow competitors, and the excitement all gets too much for Hooch, who decides to cool off.
