This season of Modern Fishing with Jared Jeffries begins with some offshore jigging action in Wilmington, North Carolina. A fan of the show, Rick Croson first takes Jared to cast small baits in the shallow reefs while a storm rages out in the gulf, but the next day the conditions are perfect. Dropping a strange homemade jig to the bottom produces the biggest Gag Grouper of Jared’s life, but it’s his next cast that produces one of the weirdest creatures ever caught on camera.

After some crazy success in the last season, Jared returns to fish for Panama Yellowfin Tuna with jigs and poppers. 20 miles offshore from the Boca Chica sport fishing lodge, Captain Sergio is chasing porpoise schools looking for feeding fish, but the chaos of last year is nowhere to be found. After days of disappointment Jared switches to his favourite popper bait. On the north side of the island, he hooks in to one of the biggest Tuna of his career, but landing a fish like this is no easy task…

Jared Jeffries joins angling buddy and chef Cedric Taquin for some inshore and offshore fishing in tropical Puerto Rico. With notoriously rough waters, the winds off the coast of Aribeco are causing problems for Captain Jose. While the duo manages a couple of fish with some aggressive and exhausting deep jigging, a massive blacktip soon steals the prize. But after being blown into the bay of mangroves, Cedric sees an opportunity for a huge Tarpon.

In the chilly waters off the coast of Wells, Maine, Jared finds himself out of his element, trading the basketball court for a fishing boat in a new state. Battling the freezing cold at the invite of a fan, 20 miles from shore, he begins deep water jigging for Redfish, rewarded by a classic Maine lobster dinner. As two Humpback whales lead them to the bait fish the next day, the boys have a chance to catch the Cod and Haddock they came for.

Join Jared in part two of his South American fishing odyssey in Boca Chica, Panama, as he pursues Tuna and Snapper. Eager to replicate his previous success with a big yellowfin, he sets his sights on a prized Cubera Snapper on his last day. Venturing 120 miles offshore on an overnight voyage, they cast artificial baits at sighted fish, aiming for Jared's first Marlin on a spinning rod.
