Fishing the Magic Hour – In the Land of the Murray Cod

48:10
Fishing The Magic Hour takes us to the land of the Murray Cod and the Western Great Dividing Range in New South Wales, Australia. Adventure anglers and film makers, Josh Smith and Jamie Condon just love fishing for these apex predators which can reach sizes of 80lb and can live for up to 70 years. As the sun drops in the evening and the shadows start coming over the pools in the gorges, surface lures are the way to go and can elicit some explosive attacks from Murray Cod. The boys get off to a great start landing several decent size fish on the first evening using these tactics. Making an early start the following morning, Jamie finds a nice backwater below a small waterfall and tempts another nice fish as he imitates a stunned bait fish. Looking for structure and ambush points the guys continue to catch more Murray Cod throughout the day using soft plastics. These fish are hard fighting and dont give in, as Jamie finds out later that day hooking and landing the biggest fish so far at around 14Kg. As the sun disappears again, its back on the surface lures with more immediate success. This is a great film for anyone interested in finding out more about Muuray Cod and what it takes to catch these fantastic predators.
