World Fishing Day – all 24 hrs

June 23rd 2018 was the first ever, World Fishing Day. With anglers worldwde getting involved, his 24hr show features the live action from the 22 locations worldwide that participated. We start the day in New Zealand, Australia, Norway and Japan before heading through Africa, Europe and over to the US and Canada. Many different fish were targeted in some of the best fishing locations around using numerous techniques.The show also features a special 8hr live Carp Wars match starring Harry Pratt, Lee Morris, Iain Macmillan and Dave Levy. There's something for all anglers in this amazing live broadcast all now available to watch at your leisure for free.

Replay first full hour of World Fishing Day Live which was broadcast on June 23rd 2018. In this first hour, we visit Al Brown in New Zealand where he starts fly fishing for rainbow trout in the reknowned Tongariro River. Then its across to Australia to meet John Haenke and Steve Starling as they head out by boat on the Fitzroy River to find Australia's most iconic fish, the mighty Barramundi. In Norway, we head over to Matt Hayes, fishing under the midnight sun in Northern Norway for a variety of sea species. Who will be the first to land a World Fishing Day fish?

Its the 2nd hour of World Fishing Day and with some catches in the bag, Can the teams in New Zealand, Australia and Norway add to their tallies? In New Zealand the sun is at its highest and the trout have gone deep, so Al Brown heads over to the National Trout Centre and helps some kids catch and cook trout. In Norway, Matt Hayes is doing his best in high seas in the fjord and in Australia, Steve Starling shows us the barramundi and threadfin salmon.

Its hour 3 of World Fishing Day Live and we join up with Paul Gaskell in Japan on a remote mountain stream where he demonstrates the ancient art of Tenakara to catch some of Japan's native trout and char species. Matt Hayes gets a workout on the boat in Norway and we're bacck with Steve Starling in Australia after Barramundi.

In this hour, we look at some of the stories uncovered during the lead up to World Fishing Day. Watch exclusive interviews with, cricketer Sir Ian Botham and Finnish actor, Jasper Paakonen as they share their passion for fishing and thoughts on its future. We also show look at how fishing is changing the lives of aboriginal children in Northern Australia (https://tiwigarden.com) and how its helping women who suffer from breast cancer with Casting for Recovery UK (https://www.castingforrecovery.org.uk). The Wild Trout Trust (http://www.wildtrout.org) talk about their invaluabe work in the UK to maintain and restore trout habitat, whilst in Italy we look at how a coastal lagoon has been brought back to be a productive sport fishery. In France, we look at a resurgent bluefin tuna fishery where these mighty creatures are caught and released on a fly rod.

Its hour 5 of World Fishing Day and as dawn breaks in the London studio, host Michelle Orpe is joined by sea fishing expert, Dave Barham. In this hour, we go back to New Zealand where Al Brown is taking a break from the fishing and smokes a filet of the trout he caught earlier on the banks of the Tongariro river. Paul Gaskell and local Tenkara expert, Go Ishi make their way upstream on a remote mountain stream in Japan and continue to fool the wild and wily trout and char. Steve Starling has also moved location on the Fitzroy river in Queensland, Australia as he searches for more Barramundi. Can he get into a trophy fish before the end of the Australia segment.

Hour 6 of the World Fishing Day broadcast and we join Juhani Henriksson in Finland, the land of 1000 rivers and a fishing mecca. Juhani is in Northern Finland on the River Tornio looking for Baltic salmon and showing us what a typical Finnish trip consists of. We're still with Paul Gaskell and Go Ishi Tenkara fishing in the mountain streams in Japan and we join Steve Starling for the final time in Australia.

Matt Boast joins Michelle in the studio for Hour 7 of World Fishing Day. We check back in Steve Starling in Rockhampton, Australia for the last time fishing for Barramundi. We're also with Juhani Henriksson in Finland hoping for a Baltic Salmon and over in Croatia with Thom Hunt as he is battling to get some fishing done in tough weather conditions. Over in Italy, Vito is in the Orbetello Lagoon in Italy looking for sea bass.

We're a third of the way through World Fishing Day and Keith Arthur joins Matt Boast in the studio. In this hour we check back with Thom Hunt in Croatia as the weather has driven him ashore. Vito Rubino talks us through his tactics for catching sea bass in the Orbetello Lagoon in Italy. We say farewell to Juhani on his salmon trip in Finland and we welcome Andy Ford to the show as he begins his roadtrip across the UK visiting some of the many World Fishing Day events hosted around the country. First up, he's in Liverpool at a sea fishing competition on the River Mersey.

Its hour 9 of World Fishing Day and we join experienced salmon angler and Fishing TV presenter, Rae Borras in Iceland on the Grimsa River, one of the most productive catchments in the country, if not the world. Surely he can catch a salmon live on camera then? We also welcome Sweden to the show as Matilda Leijon takes to a boat in Karlskrona with her friend, Louise Arvidsson hunting for pike. We check in with Thom Hunt in Croatia, where weather has hampered his fishing but he's still keen to get out there. Back in Italy and Vito Rubino and his team are having a load of fun as they get into the sea bass on lures and fly gear.

Tv presenter and fly fishing addict, Matthew Wright takes over in the studio alongside music legend, Feargal Sharkey as they keep an eye on the action. We meet up with lure angler, Ant Glascoe Jnr in downtown Paris as he visits a street fishing match. We're back to Rae in Iceland on the River Grimsa fly fishing for salmon. With plenty of fish in the pool, will they come on the take? Matilda Leijon continues to catch pike in Sweden. Finally, our live Carp Wars match gets underway with Hassan Khan reporting on all the bankside action and banter between Lee Morris, Iain MacMillan, Dave Levy and Harry Pratt.

Thom Hunt is finally out on the water in Croatia and starts fishing for tuna and in Sweden, Matilda Leijon continues to catch pike despite the sunny conditions.

Hour 12 features a collection of World Fishing Day stories from around the world. In the first film, we find out how predators and invasive species are threatening fish in the UK. We meet Finnish actor and fly fishing addict, Japser Paakonen as he discusses his love of fishing and his thoughts for the future of the sport and the habitats that wild fish need. We meet Charles Jardine as he introduces the charity, Fishing for Schools which offers young children the chance to discover the joy of fishing with over 2000 benefitting from the charity since 2008. In the US, a film from Trout Unlimited discusses public lands and the potential threat to their existence as legislators seek to transfer or 'sell' them off which would mean less access to anglers and hunters. In New Zealand, we discover a new and exciting saltwater fly fishery where Kingfish offer incredible sport. Back in London, we look at an organisation that fishes for plastic in the Thames, then manufactures boats from the reclaimed plastic. Also, in the UK, we look at the work of charity, the Wild Trout Trust which helps restore and revitalise wild trout habitat.

England Carp team manager, Rob Hughes takes over in the studio with old friend Ian Chilly Chilcott. We go back to Iceland as Rae Borras and guide Katka Svagrova move upstream on the River Grimsa in their quest for a 2nd Atlantic salmon on the fly. We go back to Thom Hunt in Croatia where conditions have hampered the fishing so far. The competition and baneter is hotting up at Carp Wars live with nearly everyone now on the scoreboard and some bigger fish starting to show. We welcome Germany to the show with TV angler, Babs Kijewski as she visits a gravel pit near Osnabruck called Linner See and starts lure fishing for perch, pike and zander. Roving reporter, Andy Ford has made it to his 3rd location on his UK road trip and checks out a Family Fishing event in Wigan. He chats with Danny Williams from the Angling Trust and meets some of the kids trying fishing for the first time. Finally, we welcome Craig Thomassen to the show as he heads out into the world reknowned Zambezi River in search of the mighty tigerfish.

Hour 14 of World Fishing Day gets underway, and Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones joins Rob Hughes in the studio. First up, we go to the USA for the first time, with legendary angler Capt Bubba Bedre as he gets started in his quest to catch the prehistoric looking Aligator Gar. Back in Germany, Babs Kijewski meets fish scientist, Dr Robert Arlinghaus who talks about the habitat improvement work they have been doing in gravel pits and the work he is doing to study angling. We go back to Rae Borras in Iceland as he finishes his morning session for salmon and heads to the airport to come back to the London studio. In Essex, the fish are back on the feed and two contestants are taking advantage. Is it a two horse race already?

Rob Hughes and Julian Lewis Jones steer the ship in this hour as we start off on the world famous chalk stream, the River Test in Hampshire. Actor and campaigner, James Murray and fly fishing expert, Charles Jardine begin their afternoon by targeting grayling and brown trout with dry flies and nymphs in the gin clear water. Bubba has scouted out a new location for Aligator Gar and moves in to target them. Can he possibly hook one of these monsters live on camera? Babs Kijewski is having fun in Germany but the fish don't seem to be playing ball. We check back in with Carp Wars Live and see who is in pole position for the win. On the Zambezi, Craig Thomassen and Rhuan Human are targetting Tiger Fish as the sun drops and the fish come on the feed. With Craig using lures and Rhuan on the fly rod, which technique will fare better?

Ex newsreader and keen salmon angler, Fiona Armstrong takes the reins in the studio. To start her session, she hosts a live debate on the plight of Atlantic salmon and what can be done to help these amazing fish. Joining her on the panel is Guy Edwards from Salmon and Trout Conservation UK, Anne Woodcock from fishing booking service, Fishpal and Deidre Brennan, director/producer of a new film called Atlantic Salmon Lost at Sea. Back on location, we go back to the River Test, fly fishing with James Murray and Charles Jardine as they get into some fish. In Texas, Bubba has struck gold and rods are bending all over the boat as we get a close look at an Aligator Gar. There's no room for nets here, as ropes are used to boat these amazing fish. Hooked on Fishing presenter, Paul Young also joins Fiona in the studio. In Paris, lure surpremo has moved location in Paris to the Festival of the Marne River, to celebrate World Fishing Day. We rejoin Andy Ford on his road trip through England and find him at the Isaac Walton fishery in Staffordshire for another World Fishing day event. There's a new leader in the Carp Wars Live match, can he hold on for the win?

In this hour, we revisit Bubba Bedre in Texas where the aligator gar fishing is on fire and they keep getting bigger. Ant Glascoe Jnr is at the Festival of the Marne river in Paris, trying to catch a fish despite the crowds and other water users enjoying the river. Back in Paris and Ant Glascoe Jnr seems to have been distracted by some Jet Skis performing stunts on the river, making fishing impossible. Bubba Bedre takes a closer look at the Aligator Gar and explains some of the features that define this amazing fish. We join husband and wife team, Jason and Jennifer Schall in Tampa Bay, Florida as they get into the action immediately with a black tip shark.

Its the final few hours of World Fishing Day and as the teams in the US and Canada prepare to present some amazing action, we bring you a series of films that epitomise what World Fishing Day is all about. First up, we interview Finnish actor and fly fishing nut, Jasper Paakonen and explore his passion for the sport and get his thoughts on the future of fishing. Legendary bass fishing Pro, Mike Iconelli introduces us to his amazing charity, the Ike Foundation and the work they do to encourage kids to the sport. We look at the work of UK charity, Fishing for Schools which has helped over 2000 kids try fishing since 2008. Trout Unlimited in the UK present a film about the fight against the proposed sale of vast areas of public lands in the US, something that would have a dramatic consequence for US anglers and hunters. In New Zealand, we look at a newly discovered saltwater fly fishery where anglers target the agressive and hard fighting kingfish. Rae Borras meets up with cricketing legend, Sir Ian Botham as he discusses his love of fishing and concerns for the plight of salmon and sea trout in the UK. In France, we see a film about the Bluefin tuna fishery and how a group of anglers are targeting these amazing fish on fly rods. The Wild Trout Trust introduce a new film discussing their work in restoring wild trout habitats in the UK. Sean Leonard, Jon Beer and Matthew Wright explain some of the issues surrounding UK rivers and what the Trust is doing to help. Project Healing Waters is a fantastic charity that helps ex servicemen and women overcome their wartime experiences using the therapy of fly fishing..in this short film, we meet one such veteran.

James Stoke joins Michelle Orpe in the studio as we welcome Canada to the show. Blogger and fishing journalist, Ashley Rae is in the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario looking for largemouth bass. We also join Dallas Baldwin and guide Dave Lisi on the Kasilof River in Alaska as they start a float trip with some guests and representatives from Trout Unlimited. Back in Tampa bay, Jason and Jennifer Schall are still catching sharks a plenty. We also start our coverage from Islamorada in the Florida Keys with host Luana Pigatto and Max Gaspeny as they head out for the silver king, tarpon. Andy Newman from Florida Keys Tourism explains what makes this place so special and why many refer to the area as the sportfishing capital of the world.

With just a few hours to go, Ashley Rae gets off the mark in Ontario with a super Largemouth Bass. On the Kasilof River in Alaska, Dallas Baldwin and Dsve Lisi start their fishing trip for King Salmon. In Tampa Bay, the action just keeps on coming with multiple hook ups for hard fighting sharks. Back in the UK, our roving reporter, Andy Ford reaches his final destination as he visits an International Ladies Carp fishing match and chats with England Team Manager, Rob Hughes. In the Florida Keys, Luana makes her final preparations for her tarpon expedition and discusses tactics with local guide and tarpon pro, Max Gaspeny.

Hour 22 of World Fishing Day sees the action continue from North America. Gemma Scott is your host and she's joined in the studio with Bojan Lazic and Palle from Fishbrain. On our live locations we catch up with Ashely Rae in Ontario, Canada where she's continuing her hot streak with more fish coming to the boat. We also head to the Florida Keys where Luana Pigatto has reached her first fishing spot. The bait is in the water - are the tarpon there? In Alaska Dallas Baldwin and Dave Lisi are still on the hunt for an elusive King Salmon on the Kasilof.

With just 2 hours the action keeps on coming and Damon Valentine joins Gemma Scott in the studio to add his fishing expertise. In downtown Denver, Corinne Doctor from Rep Your Water, is enjoying some urban fishing on a restored section of the South Platte river which has been brought back to be a productive fishery by Trout Unlimited. She also meets up with Crystal Woolen who represents Project Healing Waters, a charity that uses fly fishing to help veterans. In Alaska, Dallas and her team continue to fish for the elusive King Salmon on the Kasilof River and guide Dave Lisi, explains how he spey fishes on the river. In the beautiful Florida Keys, Luana arrives at her chosen spot and catches fish almost instantly.

Its the final hour of World Fishing Day and Rae Borras makes it back to the studio after fishing earlier in the day in Iceland. Corinne Doctor is still on the South Platte in downtown Denver hoping to catch a rainbow trout in a restored section of the river. In the Florida Keys, Luana is catching fish but the tarpon are being elusive. Can she catch one of these monsters before the show ends? In Alaska, Dallas and her crew are still looking for a King Salmon, but in the meantime has a chat with a State Park Ranger about the salmon fishery. A One-off Carp Wars Live Special Edition in which 4 top carp anglers from Series 1 and 2 go head-to-head. This feature-length episode (1hr 45 min) was filmed live on World Fishing Day and not only sees the long awaited return of Harry Pratt, series 1 champion, but also Series 2 runner-up Lee 'Mozza' Morris, Dave Levy and Iain Macmillan.
